Business Meeting Report

Tri-State Unity Coalition
Business Meeting
Milford United Methodist Church

July 10, 2001**

Eight people attended Tuesday night's business meeting to discuss the Tri-State Unity Coalition. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. Minutes were reviewed and approved from the June 12, 2001 meeting.

Committee Reports

Executive: One more Board member still to be selected.

Committee plans to meet several minutes before regularly monthly business meetings begin to cover details, and allow more time during meetings for other presentations. This will begin in the Fall.
Response Unit: Wayne started a book to contain news articles regarding TSUC as a historical database.

Rosanne will draft a letter to local law enforcement agencies and the Jewish Federation to introduce TSUC, including members of the response unit, Perry, Rosanne and Laurie (including phone numbers). TSUC will update our list of future ideas for community events to include with this letter. Also to be included would be a tri-fold pamphlet about ethnic interaction, and the form from the State Human Rights Committee.

TSUC will request to be linked to the State Human Rights Committee; forms are available on their website.
Community Outreach: Norm and Rosanne attended the Pike County Historical Society's Annual Meeting. Items of interest from the Historical Society - Some questions about the grant monies for a handicap ramp; the Civil War exhibit was changed and the Davis Bailey exhibit was removed (exhibit was temporary).

February 2002 is African-American History month. TSUC may work with the Historical Society to extend community awareness.

Interfaith Vigil - Perry will meet with the Unity Coalition of the Poconos to help plan it, and will get support from the Interfaith Council.

The KKK meeting in Lancaster, PA (on the steps of the County Courthouse) on Saturday, September 8, 2001, is the first in a decade. An interfaith Unity Celebration will be held at the same time at Franklin & Marshall College to show solidarity against the KKK. TSUC will get people involved to attend (maybe rent a bus).
Education: No report.

Meeting closed at 8:00 P.M.

Business meetings will be held the second Tuesday of every month at 7:00 P.M., at the United Methodist Church in Milford.

Special thanks and appreciation to the United Methodist Church in Milford for providing the meeting place!

**Minutes were revised prior to approval at our August 22, 2001 meeting.
