A member of the Pike County ADA Committee saves parking spaces for persons needing handicapped access as a wheelchair van arrives.  The Borough of Milford had refused to reserve spaces in front of the Biondo Building, so ADA members staked out space themselves.  Note the new plantings, paid for by public and private grants - and lack of a sidewalk at curbside.

Removing the wheelchair is no easy task when curb cuts are not provided.

The attendant is forced to ride the chair down the street to the closest curb cut and then ride back to pick up the ADA committee member .  Note the one handicapped space on the right and lack of a curb cut adjacent to the space.  A legal vehicle was parked in the handicapped space.  Also note the lack of access to a sidewalk near the vehicle.  This is all new construction paid for by public and private grants.

The ADA committee member gets into the chair.  Note that the sidewalk extends to the curb only in front of the Biondo Building.  Anyone using any of the other spaces would have difficulty with a wheelchair or walker in the very narrow curb area
